National Corvette Caravan 2009

National Corvette Caravan returns to
Bowling Green in 2009!
All Roads Lead to Bowling Green!

An endless line of Corvettes and a multitude of your fellow Corvette enthusiasts filling the roads and highways crossing the country seeing new sites and meeting new people, making new friends; this is life on a National Corvette Caravan and you can join in the fun, share the excitement and be part of one of the largest moving car events recorded. Caravans will depart from various locations during late August and early September 2009, all timed to arrive for the National Corvette Museum's 15th Anniversary Celebration on September 3-5, 2009.

The Texas Panhandle and Oklahoma are at the center of one of the largest caravans to Bowling Green! Our fun begins in Adrian, Texas, when Corvettes from Amarillo and surrounding areas have a 8 a.m. breakfast at the "Midpoint Café" on Monday, August 31st. This historic restaurant is located at the midpoint of Route 66. At breakfast, we'll greet the mighty 200+ caravan from Southern California, headed by Captain Hib Halverson. From there, our combined group will head east on I-40 to a late lunch in Elk City, Oklahoma. We'll stop for a visit with the good folks in Elk City at the National Route 66 Museum. From there, we'll head into Oklahoma City, where we'll join the great Central Texas group for the evening. You can bet there will be good food and great conversation at dinner and in the parking lot of the Clarion Hotel (I-40 and Meridian) that night

News & Reviews

Amarillo by Dinner
By June Naylor (Texas Highways August 2008)

"At the suggestion of a pal in Amarillo, I made the 50-mile trek west along Interstate 40 to the town of Adrian. There awaited the MidPoint Café, a throwback roadside joint that sits precisely on the midpoint of Route 66, with a sign indicating that Chicago is 1,139 miles east and Los Angeles is 1,139 miles west. The MidPoint, which has been open for 18 years, is popular for its big breakfasts and old-fashioned, griddle-cooked burgers, but I heartily recommend the BLT (perfectly browned toast, lots of crispy, smoked bacon, and slices of fresh, juicy tomato)..."
